Where is the Overlander now?
Jan. 07: After six months on the road, filming eight stories each, in Ireland, Spain and Vietnam, the Overlander is back in Australia, looking for a suitable place to settle (in Tasmania), for a couple of months of editing.
I've travelled the world, and realised, despite it's vicious history, how unique a place Tasmania is. Half an hour out of the capital, Hobart, and you have virgin forests. You go fishing, and you catch fish! And Hobart has the closest thing to an Irish pub I have found! And all that water...calms the soul. Might even start surfing again!
Expect to see a story for the ABC's RPF from Tassie. That will bring my RPF story tally to three! A story for Victoria, Queensland, and hopefully Tasmania. A great scheme. I spoke with Fred Brophy recently, and since the boxing tent story, they have been run off their feet with tourists, fantastic!
Each of the 30 location mini docs I turn out for the net over the next month or two, will be available for purchase. A business can secure a location's video by paying for a click on advertisement at the end of the video. This means, that anyone who watches the video, will be aware of YOUR local business. A unique concept (sure to be copied) originating from downunder!
If all goes to plan, a South American trip, on motorbike, from top to tail, for mid 2007, with the mad Spanish Scientist, Alberto!
We are what we think having become what we thought
Like the wheel that follows the cart pulling ox
Sorrow follows an evil thought
And joy follows a pure thought
Like a shadow faithfully tailing a man
We are what we think having become what we thought
Gautama Buddha Mahinda
An artist is essentially flawed
To understand the gamet of human experience
They must know both joy and suffering
To enter the abyss, the underworld
And to return, covered in shit and death
and still create art, that hopefully radiates the
most important of human qualities - Love
